As far as capacity and storage go, the Sea Eagle line of inflatable rafts have no equal. The Sea Eagle 8 raft, for instance, has a massive capacity of 950 lbs, allowing either 4 adults or a lot of gear to be put inside the raft. While the Sea Eagle 8 is rated to be able to handle 4 adults, truthfully, the boat is designed for 3 adults with very little gear or 2 people with a lot of gear on a day trip or 1 person with hundreds of pounds of gear on a multi-day river voyage. Additionally, numerous anchor points exist on the Sea Eagle 8 inflatable raft, making it simple to attach dry bags to the raft. You can attach the bags either to the side of the raft or just plop them down on the bottom of the boat, tying them off to prevent them from floating away in the event of catastorphe. Upgradeability of the Sea Eagle 8 Inflatable RaftThe Sea Eagle 8 inflatable raft, just like the Sea Eagle 9 raft, is incredibly upgradeable. By using the optional motor-mount, you can attach a 3 hp motor to it. While 3 hp doesn't sound like much, since this fishing raft is so light, even this puny size motor can move the raft along at a fairly good pace. Additionally, floor boards can be installed on the bottom of the boat. This is to only be done on lake fishing. The reason for this is because when running rivers, you want to raft to be able to flex. The floor boards remove all the boats flex - and thus could lead to serious problems when navigating rapids. However, for lake fishing, these floor boards allow anglers to stand fully up in the raft, making fly fishing a breeze. Other add-on's include a sun canopy (to keep the paddlers out of the sun), a windshield (which also helps reduce the amount of water entering the boat when running rapids) and bench seats, which make fly casting easy and which also opens up more storage space inside the raft. Portability and Ease of Set upThe Sea Eagle 8 is very portable, fitting into it's own carrying bag that is about 3 feet tall and easily fits into any trunk. The Sea Eagle 8, once you've done it a few times, can be fully inflated and ready to hit the water in about 15 minutes using a manual air pump (about 10 minutes with an electric air pump). Summary and Uses of the Sea Eagle 8Overall, if one is looking to obtain an inflatable, portable fishing boat for fly fishing, it will be hard to beat this inflatable raft considering the vast capacity of it and the numerous options and accessories that are available for it. Ideally, the Sea Eagle 8 inflatable raft will be used for lake fishing (with a motor), pond fishing (with or without a motor) and river running up to Class III whitewater. If you plan on running rapids of Class IV or will be doing lots of flat water paddling, an inflatable kayak will be a better choice as they are much easier and faster to paddle.
