General & Beginner Fly Fishing Books
Fly fishing is a relatively
simple sport once you pick up on the basics. Unfortunately, there
at times seems to be a heck of a lot of basics - all of which can
seem overwhelming to the beginner angler. As such, anyone new to
fly fishing is well advised to pick up one or more of the fly fishing
books shown below. These books, which have been developed primarily
for beginner anglers, can substantially help any person new to fly
fishing to understand the gear that is used, how to use the gear,
learn what trout eat, where to find trout, and much more.
Each of the introductory
fly fishing books shown below are all good books. The main difference
is how they are written and how much depth they go into. But all
of them can provide a new angler with a solid foundation in the
sport of fly fishing.

A tried and true classic, this is my favorite of all
the entry level fly fishing books. While it is a bit
out-dated in places, the easy to understand way this
book is written will immensely assist new anglers in
successfully catching trout. Highly recommended.

The name pretty much says it all. A nice, but not too
detailed, entry level fly fishing book. Written in an
easy to read and humorous style. Ideal reading for someone
who really doesn't enjoy reading!

A fairly comprehensive fly fishing book designed for
the entry level angler. Surprisingly complete for an
"idiots" series book. Humorous reading and
things are well explained.

none the less. Highly recommended.

Fly
Fishing Gear.Info Comments
A nice entry level fly fishing book. Not as comprehensive
as some other entry level fly fishing books, but the
smaller size makes it more pleasant to take with you
on the stream. Lots of helpful information for the new
angler.

Once upon a time, fly fishing was a guys sport. But
no longer - women are picking up the sport in record
numbers. This book, really the first of its kind aimed
at women, will help women get more out of the sport
of fly fishing. And, even if you're not a woman, you
should find much of the information contained in this
fly fishing book very helpful.

Fly
Fishing Gear.Info Comments
Fly fishing small streams presents many new challenges
and strategies in comparison to fishing on larger rivers.
Casting is often more difficult and the fish are frequently
much more spooky. This book provides information on
tips and tactics that may be successfully used when
fly fishing on small streams and spring creeks.
